Every year on 11 July, Japan celebrates National Ramen Day, recognising one of the country's most iconic and loved dishes. Established by the Japan Ramen Association in 2017, the date was chosen because: 11 resembles a pair of chopsticks. 7 resembles a ramen spoon (renge). The day is also linked to Tokugawa Mitsukuni, who is believed to be one of the first Japanese people to eat ramen.
