Established in 1987, Andrews Meats is a family owned and run business, now with 4 locations dotted around Queensland. You’ll find Andrew himself oftentimes working behind the counter, otherwise he’ll be working from home alongside his wife Sandra ensuring the business runs smoothly.

We sat down with the co-owner Will, who gave us an insight into the story behind the butcher we know and love, plus a little about how he joined the Andrews Family. Speaking of family, Will’s partner Sally can also be seen working at Andrews Grill next door at Indro, as well as father and daughter duo Steve and Shania in the butcher shop.

Will started out in the meat industry when he was just 12-years old, processing meat for the local butcher in the town of Oamaru, New Zealand. He climbed his way up the ranks as a clean-up boy, before dedicating himself to becoming a butcher after finishing school. Will was the youngest person to complete the Pre-vocational Retail Bucher Course with Honours in 1995, an achievement which he is very proud of.

Will joined the Andrews family in 2003 at the Mount Ommaney store, before running the Logan store for 15 years. From there he moved to Indooroopilly in 2020 to begin a new chapter of his life – talk about a wealth of experience! Regardless of the location, consistent and dedicated customer service is something the team hold very close to their hearts.

When he’s not behind the counter, you’ll find Will exploring the regions that supply Andrews Meats on his motorbike. After he explained the close relationship the team have with the Lyons family, who supply their top-notch beef, we can understand why the team describes their customer’s experience as “paddock to plate”.

We asked Will what his favourite memory at the Indro store has been, and he was quick to mention Christmas in 2020, which was extra special. “After the year we had, we got to supply all our customers with their ideal Christmas feast meats and make sure when the time came to serve it up, they could forget about the year that was and just enjoy their meals with minimal stress. It really is such a joy to be a part of.”

We feel very fortunate to have such a great team of individuals at Indro, who are dedicated to serving the community only the best quality product, paired with cooking tips from experienced professionals who aren’t afraid to admit they nail steak every time!
