How To Dress For A Rainy Day

Winter is here, and this year in Brisbane, wet weather is also heading our way. If you’re wondering how to dress for the wet while still looking chic, we have some ideas on how to look the part.

Ace The Base
When it’s wet and cold, you want to make sure you get the base layer right and build from there.
We love a long-sleeved shirt from Cotton On, which comes in a range of colours. We recommend going for a darker colour when it’s raining to prevent any fashion faux pas. The long sleeves will give you that extra warmth and these tops are great to have on-hand in your wardrobe in all colours.

For the legs, we’re loving the Riley Biker Jeans from Decjuba! They’re stylish, warm and feel like a second skin, so you’re bound to be comfortable and dry.  Made from sustainably sourced cotton, they’re super stretchy, mid-rise, and come in five colours. Plus they're under $100.

Extra Protection
If you find yourself out in the elements, we recommend investing in a rain jacket. The Amphi Rain Jacket from Kathmandu is waterproof, windproof, and breathable. It comes in three different colours, and we love the vanilla shade. It goes with anything in your wardrobe and will be a piece you’ll be glad to have. When you find something functional that also looks good, you snap it up!

Best Foot Forward
When it comes to getting out and about in the rain, you can’t go past a black boot. We recommend an ankle boot with not much of a heel – you don’t want to go slipping and sliding! The Como ankle boots from Tony Bianco have a 2.5cm heel and go with just about anything. Just be aware that before wearing leather in wet weather, you need to waterproof your shoes.

Accessorise Accordingly
Let’s not forget to protect our hair! We love adding a hat to our look to make sure we keep our hair dry and out of the way. The Modern Logo Cap from Country Road is a staple.

We also know the juggle is real when trying to hold a handbag and umbrella at the same time.Try wearing a crossbody bag or a bum bag if you only need the essentials. Strandbags has the ultimate wet weather companion, take a look at the Marikai Crossbody bag.
